"Ghost Voices" is a documentary project exploring the periphery of Europe through its oral traditions and music. It uses ancestral voices and cultural practices like Portuguese Cante Alentejano, Icelandic rímur (epic poems), Sami joik songs, Lemko music and Mediterranean songs from Corsica and Sardinia to question borders and belonging. The project travels from the mines of Aljustrel to other regions, highlighting the diversity and unity of these collective identities.

Locations and traditions:
Aljustrel, Portugal: Starts with the Cante Alentejano, a UNESCO-recognized vocal music genre from the Alentejo region.
Iceland: Explores Icelandic rímur, a unique form of epic poetry that describes an isolated people.
Sápmi (Lapland): Features the joik, a traditional song form of the Sami people of Norway, Finland, and Sweden.
Ukraine and Poland: Follows the Lemko people, showcasing their unique music and culture.
Corsica and Sardinia: Concludes with the characteristic Mediterranean songs of these islands, which are often associated with independence movements.
