Produced by Bando À Parte, the series consists of five episodes that explore the struggle against the Estado Novo dictatorship. The narrative crosses various locations in the country, with a special focus on the north, portraying the different forms of resistance, from clandestinity to direct confrontations with the regime's repressive forces, during the thirteen years leading up to 25 April 1974.
Based on real-life testimonies, ‘From Here There Was Resistance’ highlights the sacrifices and daily struggles of citizens who, in different ways, opposed the fascist regime. The series gives visibility to lesser-known movements and anonymous figures, showing how freedom was won by many through years of struggle and sacrifice.
